Back with the usual show after not having one for a while during the drive, I was still working through a number of brand new things in this show, including Madlib & Freddie Gibbs, Alsarah & the Nubatones, Lee Fields, Soul Jazz Orchestra, Takuya Kuroda and Ana Tijoux. Started things off with a short tribute to the legendary Frankie Knuckles, one of the real fore-fathers of House music. I’ve always dug House music, especially when I’ve heard it in the club, but I’ve never gotten really deep into it. Despite that I’ve always recognized the joy that the music brings and couldn’t miss the chance to pay tribute. During the show you also hear an excerpt of the guest DJ set that E Da Boss of Myron & E did for us last year, ahead of his set for the Blazing Funk show at the Echo this week, which also features Jungle Fire performing live and a 2 hour set from Rich Medina!
